Abraham Lincoln was born on Sunday,Febuary 12,1809 in a log cabin in Hodgenville,Kentucky.He was the son of Thomas Lincoln and Nancy Hanks Lincoln.Abe had a sister named Sarah(his younger brother,Thomas died in infancy).Abe's mother died in 1818 from milk sickening,a disease from drinking milk of cows who grazed on poisonous white snakeroot.Abe's father remarried in1819 to Sarah Bush Johnston Lincoln.She had 3 children of her own.
As Abe grew up he loved to read and preffer learning to work in the feilds.This led to a difficult realationship with his father who was just the opposite.Abe had to borrow books from the neighbors.
